Following a possible data theft incident involving approximately 1.5 million clients, SunTrust Banks Inc. is offering free identity protection service through Experian IDnotify to all clients.
The IDnotify protection package includes Experian 1B credit monitoring, an annual Experian credit report, identity theft insurance for up to $1 million reimbursements for covered expenses, identity restoration assistance, dedicated call center support and dark web monitoring.
In addition to SunTrust’s current security protocols, the IDnotify also offers ongoing account monitoring, a FICO score program, alerts, tools and zero liability fraud protection.
“We have heightened our monitoring of accounts and increased other security measures," SunTrust chairman and CEO Bill Rogers said. "While we have not identified the significant fraudulent activity, we will reinforce our promise to clients that they will not be held responsible for any loss on their accounts as a result."
He also added that the company’s goal is to protect millions of their clients as well as to maintain their trust.
